On the illusion of social currency.
I’ve too often thought of my work as a social currency. In the sense that I only need to make carefully planned investments towards future goals.
But in truth this is an illusion. We are fallible people and are allowed to take risks. To risk your art, to be vulnerable with expression is a way to be on the path to creative freedom. And we have much less to lose in this than I previously thought.
Take stock of those around you who love you. Take stock of your full belly. Then decide to risk your art because what truly matters has already been won.
